Login Security
Logging in to ImproveIT is CompanyID / UserName / Password protected. Once successfully logged into the system, the user can only access information that they have permission to view. ImproveIT has built-in nine distinct security levels linked to departmental access only up to full access over your entire organisation. These logins also control who is allowed to view, add, edit or delete your information. ImproveIT uses 128 bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) to encrypt the information passing between the browser and the server to stop hackers from accessing your data in transit.
WebCentral Data Centre
ImproveIT is hosted by WebCentral who use a data centre that is purpose built, secure and state of the art. The data centre building, facilities and environment ensure 24 hour, 7-day reliable server, mass storage and automatic back operations. WebCentral hosts more than 50,000 sites and domains for Australian corporations and the SME market. 24x7 Staffing
The data centre is staffed 24 hours a day (please note that this data centre does not provide product support). Access is restricted via secure card access and early warning systems are in place to monitor fire, intrusion, vandalism and theft. The security system is monitored from a central station operated by a major Australian security company.
Power Supplies
There is a comprehensive power supply system to ensure continuous operation of the servers, mass storage and tape back up units. The servers, mass storage and tape units in the data centre are protected by uninterruptible power supplies. This ensures that the servers remain operational during short power outages, brownouts and power spikes. In the event of power loss from the main grid, after 5 seconds the diesel generator automatically starts up and powers the entire data centre. The generator can operate for 24 hours without refuelling and the unit can be refuelled while running. When the power is restored the generator continues to operate until mains power has stabilised.
Mass Storage
The ImproveIT website is dynamic and uses a relational database server to store your transaction and related data. The amount of data entered over time by a subscriber can be very large, and the impact of data loss quite severe. To minimise the risk of data loss and to ensure storage capacity remains adequate, RAID storage arrays are used. These storage systems accommodate multiple hard disks and are fault tolerant. In the event of a hard disk failure, the system will keep working with no data loss. The hard disks can be "hot-swapped" meaning that a technician can replace a faulty drive while the storage system is still working without data loss.
